A FORMER Rotherham councillor who served the town for over 25 years has died.
Michael Hoggard represented the Labour Party on Rotherham Borough Council between 1973 and 1998 and before that was a member of the former County Borough of Rotherham Council.
He represented the former Clifton and St Anns ward, now Rotherham East.
Mr Hoggard was a technician at British Steel Chemicals in Orgreave and at Swindon Labs.
A funeral is to be held at Rotherham Crematorium next Thursday, July 14, at 10.20am.
Rotherham MP Denis MacShane said: “He was an unswerving believer in and servant of Rotherham. He often spoke to me with pride of his schooldays at Rotherham Grammar School.
“The Labour movement mourns his passing.”
