Staff take stock of charity shop’s donations

Call centre staff took a break from their desks to show support for a Sheffield hospice.

Employees from the city centre’s Barkers Pool office of Nationwide Building Society rolled up their sleeves during a day volunteering for St Luke’s Hospice.

The 10-strong team spent the day sorting through stock at the hospice’s fundraising shop in Crookes.

Between them they managed to sort items from 200 bags of clothing, books, CDs and bric-a-brac.

The items are expected to raise around £8,000 when they are sold in the charity’s chain of 11 shops across the city, from Stocksbridge to Crystal Peaks. Nationwide staff have also been holding a number of fundraisers at their office, including a guess the weight of the Christmas cake contest.
