A fifth day of strike action at a Rotherham special school has been postponed after union officers were invited to talks with the town’s director of schools Dorothy Smith.
Support staff at Abbey School at Kimberworth are in dispute over redundancies, and what they say is increasingly poor pupil behaviour.
GMB convenor Lee Simpson said: “We have had a positive meeting with Dorothy and at last someone seems to be listening. A further meeting has been arranged between school management, the GMB and Dorothy Smith for July 4 and we are hoping that something positive comes from it.”
A strike due to take place tomorrow has been postponed but a further day of action has been scheduled for July 9 if no progress is made.
