Pupils at a Barnsley school have been rewarded for taking part in road crossing training successfully.

Officers from Barnsley Council’s road safety team visited Penistone St John’s Primary School to give Year 3 and 4 students advice about crossing the road.

The aim was to help children learn how to cross in a safe place.

Coun Roy Miller said: “Child pedestrian accidents tend to occur at or near common road structures such as junctions, bends, the brow of hills and visual obstructions such as bushes, hedges, wheelie bins and parked vehicles.”
