A FIFTH of Sheffield parents are too nervous about numbers to help their under 11s with their maths homework, a survey by education publisher Pearson has found.
Maths was found to be the second-hardest subject for mums and dads to get their heads around – beaten only by French. And almost two thirds worried that even if they did help, their children might get confused due to new teaching methods.
Half of the parents questioned agreed that maths skills were essential for getting on in the modern world.
