Jessica joins elite scheme

SHEFFIELD Olympic heroine Jessica Ennis has joined a team of inspirational Athlete Mentors which is part of the Sky Sports Living for Sport initiative.

Jessica and another new recruit, sprint legend Darren Campbell, will visit schools across the UK along with the 48 other mentors who are already part of the programme.

The squad serving schools in the Yorkshire region include skater Jenna Downing, bobsleigh star Nicola Minichiello, rugby league international Paul Broadbent, Paralympic wheelchair fencer Craig McCann, diver Monique Gladding and world taekwondo champion Sarah Stevenson.

The programme, now in its tenth year, is a free schools initiative, delivered with the Youth Sport Trust, which uses sport stars and their skills to improve the lives of thousands of young people.
