Hands on demo for youngsters

YOUNGSTERS have been given a masterclass in cookery as a treat for their hard work on a community garden project.

Children and adults from local community groups in Moorends, Doncaster, have helped to tend the garden at the Miners Welfare and Community Development Centre, resulting in bumper crops being harvested.

The garden is part of a project set up by St Leger Homes of Doncaster, the organisation that manages 21,000 homes for Doncaster Council.

Home economist Teresa Bovey and expert bread-maker Linda Hewitt gave youngsters a hands-on demonstration in bread-making and in how to make soups, vegetable cobbler, pumpkin pie and jam.
