A Rotherham college has secured thousands of pounds of funding to start a new sports club.
Thomas Rotherham College has received £13,500 from Streetgames, the national charity behind Doorstep Sports Clubs to make sports accessible in disadvantaged communities.
The money, allocated over the next three years, will help the college link with its secondary schools, offering a sports youth club to pupils in Years 10 and 11, aged 14 to 16, and assisting with their transition from school to college.
The club will offer group exercise, football, badminton and table tennis.
It also aims to sustain student participation through incentives such as T-shirts and drinks bottles for regular attendance.
