Firth Park headteacher delighted with many results

Principal Chris Keen was delighted with the number of pupils who had gained excellent results – despite a fall in the overall pass rate which he blamed on Government changes.

He said there was improvement in many subjects, with pupils achieving grades in line or better than national expectations.

Mr Keen added: “The variability of overall performance is largely a result of the changes made to the way in which the Government counts qualifications.

“These changes were made midway through courses and we took a decision that it was important that students continued to study courses that were appropriate and gave them the best chance of success.”
