Event for teachers by teachers at Parkwood

Over 200 teachers and senior staff from schools across the area are set to attend an education event at a Sheffield secondary next Thursday, February 6.

Helping Children to Love Learning is to be held by Teachmeet Sheffield at Parkwood Academy in Shirecliffe, and is the first get-together of its kind in the region.

Presentations will share innovative practice currently inspiring children in classrooms across the county.

There will also be nationally-known speakers and education writers, including Hywel Roberts, Julia Skinner and Rob Smith who set up The Literacy Shed, an online resource for teachers.

A spokesman said: “Most teachers across Sheffield are committed to working collaboratively with other practitioners within schools, which is why this event has been so well received.

“It is fabulous that so many teachers and school leaders are willing to attend this event at the end of a school day, which is being organised by teachers for teachers.”

Organisers have also recruited major sponsors such as E-ACT, Toshiba, Twinkl Resources, Crown House Publishing, Yes Programming, One Day Creative Education and Edgy Productions.
