Hundreds of people paraded through Doncaster to celebrate passing their degrees at the borough’s university centre.

Graduates marched in their robes from the Doncaster College headquarters at Waterfront to St George’s Minster, where the degrees were dished out.

Guest speakers included Nigel Brewster, from Doncaster Chamber, Professor Sita Popat, from Leeds University, and Karen Finlayson, of  PricewaterHouseCooper.

Among those celebrating their degrees were Jessica Reed, aged 23, of Cusworth, and 49-year-old Jayne Stirland, of Bennetthorpe.

Both secured first class honours degrees in fashion and textiles.

Jessica said: “It’s lovely to celebrate three years of hard work.”

Jayne said she had fought back pain during her course, so was delighted to have passed and was proud of the achievement.
