Construction course set to inspire city’s teenagers

Two South Yorkshire schools have created a learning partnership with some of the country’s largest construction companies.

Pupils from King Ecgbert School in Dore and from Rotherham’s Aston Academy are to go on a Design Engineer Construct course put together with the help of Arup, Topcon and Amey.

They will use industry standard equipment and learn practical skills required by construction industry employers, achieving an accredited qualification equivalent to GCSE level and recognised by universities across the country.

The programme will be taught by specialist teachers with the aim of inspring young people from the two secondaries to become the next generation of design, engineering and construction professionals.
