A PROJECT supporting students with severe learning difficulties has won a national award.
Sheffield College’s digital mentoring project won the further education colleges category of the first Education Innovation Awards.
A group of 17 technology-savvy students at the college have trained as volunteer digital mentors to teach students with learning disabilities how to use an iPad, and all about computer games and digital cameras.
Students with disabilities learn skills that boost their development and independence.
Julie Byrne, principal of Sheffield City College campus, said: “I am delighted that my fantastic team and students fought off tough competition to win this richly deserved award.”
