Council to set new budget

LETTERS, emails and messages sent via social media networks suggesting how Barnsley Council could save money are being reviewed as the authority prepares to set its budget for next year.

Last month residents and local businesses were invited to give their opinions and comments on a range of savings, totalling £18.7 million.

All the views received in recent weeks will be considered by councillors at a meeting on Thursday, February 28, where next year’s budget will be set for April 2013 to March 2014.
