Doncaster Council is set to pilot a property licensing scheme in Hexthorpe in a bid to reduce anti-social behaviour in the area.
The Selective Licensing Scheme is set to be piloted this summer for 12 weeks and means the local authority will have greater power to check up on landlords and their efforts to take appropriate action to combat problems with tenants.
The move comes after residents from Hexthorpe attended a public meeting to discuss problems in the area.
Ros Jones, Mayor of Doncaster, said: “The proposed scheme in Hexthorpe would improve social and economic conditions and aid Doncaster Council in tackling issues of anti-social behaviour in the area. Reports of incidents of anti-social behaviour in the area have ranged from knife threats, to all-night parties.”
