THREE Labour Party councillors in Rotherham are standing down – including two veterans who have clocked up half a century of public service between them.
Reg Littleboy has represented Brinsworth and Catcliffe for 23 years.
Iain St John has been Labour councillor for Anston and Woodsetts since 1986. He was a member of the old South Yorkshire County Council for the previous five years.
Also standing down is Jane Austen, who has represented Holderness ward since 2000, because she has moved out of the borough to Eckington, where she is standing for a seat on North East Derbyshire Council.
Coun Littleboy, who remains party secretary in his ward, said: “I’m standing down after 23 years because I’m 71 years old now and I’d be 75 at the end of the next term if I was re-elected.”
