PLANS to change a furnishing store into bedsit accommodation are being opposed by a town council because it will involve losing a retail outlet.

Stocksbridge Town Council has objected to Sheffield Council abut the planning application for the change of use on the lower ground, first and second floors at Stocksbridge Furnishing on Manchester Road, Stocksbridge.

The proposed change of use is from retail to living accommodation with 11 bedrooms plus an emergency staircase.

The town council is objecting because it wants to encourage businesses to the area and not lose a business outlet.
