PUBLIC bodies are strapped for cash but one Sheffield community assembly is bucking the trend - with a surplus of almost £11,000 left after setting its budget.
Sheffield Council’s South West Community Assembly has £10,826 left after setting its funding priorities for the current financial year. Schemes already allocated cash include highways projects, grants to community groups, and funding for an allotment ranger and community project officer.
A report to the assembly said: “It is proposed the underspend be added to the contingency pot to allow the assembly to carry out small pieces of work. The underspend will be used to support projects in all four wards within the Assembly area.”
The next meeting of the assembly is on Thursday from 7pm, at Bents Green Methodist Church, Ringinglow Road.
