WORK has started on demolishing a landmark building.

Contractors have begun the internal stripping-out of seven-storey Crinoline House on Effingham Street, Rotherham, in preparation for demolition in the next four to six weeks.

The physical demolition will require some occasional road closures outside peak traffic times to ensure public safety in the immediate area.

n The whole project is expected to take around 16 weeks.

Crinoline House, built in the 1970s, was vacated in 2010 having been home to the council’s social services department.
