DERBYSHIRE County Council has become the latest local authority to sign up to the Community Covenant for members of the armed forces.
The council is following Sheffield, Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham councils, which have all pledged their support.
The covenant aims to give current and former service personnel extra help in civilian life.
Coun George Wharmby, Derbyshire County Council chairman, said: “We all owe a huge debt of gratitude to our armed forces – both past and present – for the sacrifices they make to keep us safe.
“We recognise that by working together we can provide unified support for serving and former armed forces members and their families who already live and work in Derbyshire.”
