Could you help out at Castle?

VOLUNTEERS are wanted to help preserve Wentworth Castle in Barnsley.

An open weekend is being held this Saturday and Sunday for anyone interested in volunteering, with activities including gardening, administration, archiving and helping out with special events.

Claire Herring, Wentworth Castle Heritage Trust’s Director, said: “Our volunteers are tremendously important and help with all sorts of things from dry stone walling to woodland management and guided tours.

“Volunteering is a great way to get involved, learn new skills and make new friends.”

To find out more about volunteering, visit Wentworth Castle, which boasts some of the earliest gothic follies in the country, between 10am and 4pm on Saturday or Sunday.
