Corrie’s Hayley casts a lasting legacy

Have your say

What Corrie fan has not had The Conversation this week?

A heart-to-heart on the sofa with their nearest and dearest, about what they want when it comes to the point where they can no longer bear to live?

How and when to die - and whether or not it should be our choice; the debate has been thrust into living rooms throughout Britain in the most easily digestible way; over a cuppa, while watching the telly. And not on News At Ten, but the nation’s most popular soap.

Hayley’s spiral down from diagnosis of pancreatic cancer to suicide has been intensely moving, a journey sensitively handled by all. Like Roy, though, we weren’t ready for her to go. But it made us discuss an issue that could at some time be crucial. No soft-soaping.
