A consultant from Barnsley Hospital has been recognised for his outstanding contribution to clinical teaching for the third year running.
Dr Abuzeid Eltrafi, consultant physician specialising in elderly medicine, was awarded the Clinical Teaching Award, as voted for by The Medical School at University of Sheffield. The award recognises those working with students in a clinical environment, encouraging people to be more involved with teaching.
Dr Eltrafi was nominated for the Clinical Teaching Award by students who have recently worked with him whilst undertaking placements at Barnsley Hospital. He, and a team of clinical teachers, have worked with a range of students and focus on maximising the interaction between teachers and students. The team of teachers include doctors, nurse therapists in ARU, Ward 19 and the hospital’s Education Centre who combine clinical and practical training with theoretical knowledge
Dr Eltrafi said: “This is a great honour which encourages us to constantly evolve our teaching methods in order to provide the best possible learning environment.”
