Conferences are good news

Have your say

I’m delighted that the NUS have decided to host their 2012 and 2013 conferences in Sheffield, bringing an estimated £2 million to the city.

I’m delighted that the NUS have decided to host their 2012 and 2013 conferences in Sheffield, bringing an estimated £2 million to the city.

This comes as a direct result of our policy to ‘up’ the council’s game in making sure Sheffield attracts the major events it deserves.

Big conferences can help lots of businesses in addition to the venues, from hotels to independent traders and restaurants. And through the investment we’ve made, the city can now benefit directly from those who come to visit.

Hopefully the city will now compete on a level that it should have done years ago and we will be able to bring more investment and jobs to the city.

Cheer up, sir

I’m sorry if I’ve offended Jud Beighton. I did not write my letter to offend anyone. OK you are an MD and chairman of a company, but you should look at things on a lighter side. I do not smoke now but I am actually a smoker who prefers not to smoke. Cheer up, sir. You never know life might get better.
