SHEFFIELD City Hall will celebrate its 80th birthday with an interactive performance of classical music from the City of Sheffield Youth Orchestra.

The work of Sir William Walton and Ralph Vaughn Williams, among others, will be the subject of discussions examining the composers’ musical lives.

Audience members will be able to to listen to different sections of the orchestra playing extracts from the works, before they are played in full for a grand finale.

They will also enjoy a special Happy Birthday arrangement written by Tom Jarvis, a member of the orchestra who is about to embark on a Master’s degree in composition.

The performance will take place at the Irwin Mitchell Oval Hall, within the City Hall in Sheffield city centre.

The event takes place on Saturday, September 22, starting at 3pm.
