Comrades of dead soldier on parade

SOUTH Yorkshire soldiers who have recently returned from Afghanistan are holding a homecoming parade.

The Light Dragoons, which recruits from across the county, are marching through Barnsley on Tuesday, November 13.

About 250 troops supported by military vehicles will make their way along Church Lane and Church Street to the Town Hall for speeches, a presentation and inspection.

There will also be a one-minute silence in memory of Sgt Lee Davidson, aged 32, from Thorne, who was killed on the deployment.

Dance show

young people who attend the Marylyn Yeardley Dance Academy classes in the New Hall, Bawtry, are taking part in the Variety 2012 show being staged at Doncaster Civic Theatre from Wednesday to Saturday.

Ale fans’ auction

Doncaster Campaign for Real Ale hold their annual general meeting and auction at The Salutation on Friday evening.
