OLYMPIC fever has reached a Sheffield estate - with community groups preparing for the torch relay.
A celebration event is to be held in Parson Cross on Monday to mark the occasion, with live music, a bouncy castle and face painting among the entertainment planned.
The event is to be held on Chaucer School’s playing fields from 3pm until 5pm, with the torch due to arrive on Chaucer Road at 5.15pm.
The event has been planned by groups including the Parson Cross forum, Chaucer School, ASDA and local churches.
Nick Waterfield, one of the organisers from the Parson Cross Initiative said: “Whatever people might think about the Olympics at this time of cutbacks and austerity, the Torch relay offers us an opportunity to celebrate as a community and give a big welcome to visitors.”
