COMMUNITY groups can bid for a share of £250,000 being made available to help voluntary groups in Derbyshire.
Organisations in areas such as Dronfield, the Hope Valley, Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire are eligible to apply for the Community Action Grant, which is being launched on Tuesday, June 21, with an event at County Hall in Matlock.
Groups interested in applying are invited to attend the event, which begins at 6.30pm, where they can find out more about how the grants will be distributed and meet other community groups and organisations.
Derbyshire County Council leader, Coun Andrew Lewer, and Coun Carol Hart, cabinet member for public health, are hosting the event.
A council spokesman said: “It will feature examples of activities and actions by small groups – showing how a little support can go a long way.”
The launch is also a chance for voluntary and community groups to celebrate Small Charities Week 2011 which runs from June 20 to June 24.
Places at the event are limited and must be booked in advance, by Monday, June 13. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 08456 058 058.
