COMMUNITY projects in a part of Sheffield have been allocated £468,000 of funding over the coming year.
Sheffield Council’s North East Community Assembly is to provide cash to each of four Firth Park, Burngreave, Southey, and Shiregreen and Brightside wards and retain £88,000 for area-wide initiatives.
They include £10,000 for improving parks, £10,000 for public health projects, £36,000 for efforts to help the jobless into work, plus £32,000 towards community consultation.
Funding for individual areas will be £108,000 in Burngreave, £90,500 in Firth Park, £79,500 in Southey and £83,500 in Shiregreen and Brightside.
Voluntary, community and faith organisations in the wards can now apply again for the cash, which can be used to provide group activities for adults, children and young people. Amounts range from hundreds of pounds to £2,000 for festivals and public events. Apply at www.sheffield.gov.uk/northeast by 5pm on May 16.
