A plaque has been unveiled to commemorate those who have lost their lives in fires and road traffic collisions in South Yorkshire.

The plaque was unveiled by the Government’s Chief Fire and Rescue advisor, Sir Peter Holland, at a ceremony in Sheffield on behalf of the HOPE support group.

HOPE was set up more than a decade ago to offer support to people who have lost a loved one in any incident attended by South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.

The plaque has been planted alongside a tree of remembrance at the fire service’s training centre in Handsworth.
