Commando workout for troops

Royal Marines at Barnsley College.

Royal Marines at Barnsley College.

ROYAL Marines put students through a tough fitness drill which included sit-ups, press-ups and races.

The aim of the session was to improve teamwork among first and second year public services students at Barnsley College.

The event took place at Honeywell Sports Centre.

Public Services course leader Jasvir Saroya said: “It’s all about the reality of physical fitness in public services. The students are finding it exhausting, but they are just limbering up.

“They have been raising funds for the Royal Marines Benevolent Fund, so it is good for them to see the commandos in action.”

Student James Melhuish said: “It was much harder than I expected for a warm up.”
