I AM looking for help promoting a ladies’ event I am holding on September 2 at the Holiday Inn, Rotherham.
It is for the Alstrom Syndrome UK Support Group (www.alstrom.org.uk). I have worked with a child who has the condition and I really wanted to do some work to help raise money for the fantastic work they do and to help raise awareness. I’ve worked with visually impaired children in schools and have recently started my own business so I wanted to give something back by creating this event. Can anyone donate a prize? And why not come along to join in the fun. See www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=233689586660217

Thanks for the great memories
HOW lovely to read the tribute to Charlie Williams (July 6).
While on holiday I went to see his show in the theatre on Scarborough pier. What a happy night it was. Lots of laughs and lovely music.
I went to the stage door after the show. Records were on sale and Charlie was autographing them. I thanked him for a good end to a very good day. It was my birthday, so he wrote ‘Happy Birthday Bonnie, with love from Charlie Williams’.
It is still one of my favourite records. The song I like best is Walking My Baby Back Home. So once again thank you Charlie and thank you at The Star for my trip down Memory Lane.

Gents helped me
I WOULD like to thank the two gentlemen who stopped to help me when my car broke down on the A57 on Sunday teatime. While other people drove past and stared, they stopped and moved my car to a safer place. They are two people who actually care about others when a lot just care about themselves.
