Thoroughly modern pampering is on the timetable as a college opens new state-of-the-art salons to the public.
Rotherham College of Arts and Technology has unveiled the Inspire hair and beauty salons and nail bar after relocating them to its town centre campus so clients can access them easily.
They are fitted with high quality equipement, music systems, colour-changing LED lights and even futuristic mirrors with computer screens embedded inside to show entertainment or promotions.
Training salons fitted with the same equipment - which is more than industry standard - have also been set up to help students learn their profession.
The college said it had ‘pulled out all the stops’ to make sure their salons provided the ultimate relaxing experience.
“It’s brilliant for the students and clients,” said Julia Arechiga, head of the department for creative service industries.
“The studios are filled with some of the most inspiring technology that I have ever seen anywhere else.
“We have got very individualised and ‘beyond-industry level’ equipment here. There is a buzz about the place.”
The college received funding from the Skills Funding Agency to kick start the multi-million pound modernisation of its facilities.
The update includes five new labs, a specialist health and social care hospital room and two new media make-up salons.
