FUMING tenant Stephen Donaldson has been sleeping in the bath for the last three weeks after his ceilings fell in, ruining his bed and settee.

The 49-year-old, who lives in a first-floor council flat on Lilac Avenue, Stocksbridge, Sheffield, said plasterboards collapsed after the roof started leaking when heavy rain and wind damaged the tiles.

He said: “The ceilings partially fell in the bedroom, lounge and kitchen.

“A repair man from Kier came round and took the rest down because he said they were dangerous. I am now having to sleep in the bath in a sleeping bag because all my furniture is ruined.

“As there is no ceiling or insulation, it’s also very cold and I am having to spend £50 a week on heating when I’m on disability benefits.”

Mr Donaldson said he is too ill to work due to health problems.

Sheffield Homes said it has repaired the roof and will replace Mr Donaldson’s ceilings as a priority.
