A ROCK climber suffered spinal and pelvic injuries when he fell eight metres from a route at Froggatt Edge.

The Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue snatch squad was called out to help the 22-year-old man. He was treated by Edale team doctors and a paramedic, then carried on a spinal board up to the top of the crag by rescuers.

Then he was transferred by helicopter to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield for further treatment, following the incident on Friday.

In a separate call, Buxton Mountain Rescue team attended Tipps car park at Barber Booth, Edale, on Sunday after a walker collapsed.

The woman, 73, from Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, had been walking with her son when she became unwell.

She was transferred to the Northern General Hospital.
