Clegg faces fury at cuts agenda
FURIOUS trade unionists and campaigners gathered outside the Town Hall last night to demonstrate their opposition to the coalition government's cuts to public spending.
Around 300 protesters chanted: "Tory boy, Nick Clegg!" as the Deputy Prime Minister spoke to business leaders inside the building.
The mood was a long way from the euphoria of May 5, when Mr Clegg addressed thousands of screaming fans in Barker's Pool on the eve of the General Election.
Bill Ronksley, secretary of the Sheffield Trades Union Council, said people were furious with the Liberal Democrats for supporting the Conservative agenda.
He accused Mr Clegg of "conducting a war on working people".
He added: "Voters are now extremely angry because they realise they were conned by the smooth-talking Nick Clegg."
