Clegg faces 1948-style party protest

ANTI-cuts protesters are staging a new demonstration at Nick Clegg’s offices - with plans for a ‘street party with a twist’.

Sheffield’s UK Uncut members plan to campaign outside his Nether Green office on Saturday.

It is part of a ‘national day of action’ by UK Uncut, comparing the current economic situation with when Britain last hosted the Olympics in 1948.

Amy Taylor, aged 31, of Sheffield Uncut, added: “Back then we were faced with a much worse economic situation, but we built the NHS, housing and the welfare state, to ensure that the future looked brighter for everyone, no matter what their income, age or background.”
