PENSIONERS in South Yorkshire who have not yet claimed winter fuel payments have another month to send in the paperwork.
The Department for Work and Pensions said 78,000 elderly people in Sheffield were eligible for the £250 allowance last winter - and a similar number are due the cash after this winter.
Minister for Pensions Steve Webb said: “Most eligible people will have already received their Winter Fuel Payment. However, anyone who has not had a payment, and who thinks they may be eligible needs to act quickly.”
Most households with someone born on or before July 5 1950 will receive £250. Households with someone aged 80 and over will get £400.
