SHEFFIELD’S sporting expertise is being promoted at an international conference.

Representatives from Marketing Sheffield, with Sheffield International Venues and Sheffield Hallam University, are at Sport Accord in Quebec this week - an event visited by the world’s major sports organisers.

The Steel City will be highlighted as a host venue for future international sporting events.

Ponds Forge in Sheffield has hosted the prestigious FINA Diving World Series for four years.

The ISU Skating Championships also took place in the city earlier this year.

Last year the value of major sports events totalled £6 million for Sheffield - with an additional £19 million generated through Olympic related business in the city.

Brendan Moffett, Marketing Sheffield director, said: “We are aggressively and proactively looking forward to attracting more significant events to Sheffield in the next five years.”
