NEW Year’s Eve will be a low-key affair for Sheffielders, according to a new survey which says many city residents will be staying in with friends and family tonight.
More than half of people polled said they were planning to stay in, while just 15 per cent said they were intending to hit the town to usher in 2012.
The survey, carried out by Halifax, reveals those venturing out will be a youthful bunch.
Just under 40 per cent of people going out will be aged 18 to 24, with only 11 per cent aged 55 or over.
An average night out for people aged 25 to 34 this evening is expected to cost over £63 – up from £55 usually.
