A 58-year-old Sheffield woman is preparing to attempt her first ever half marathon, after discovering a love of running later in life.
Following the death of a friend, Debi Jones decided she wanted to lost five stone, and decided to try her hand a local women’s running group’s ‘Couch to 5K’ scheme.
“On day one, I felt like crying,” revealed the curtain maker.
“I didn’t think I could do it, but I eventually I did it, and I’m now confident running 5K and 10K, so when I saw ‘The Longhorn 10’ event, I decided it was time for a real challenge and signed up.
“I want people to realise that they are never too old to achieve things. I never ever thought I’d be a runner but here I am, two years on, and I don’t even feel like the same person anymore!”
