Sheffield Teaching Hospitals’ catering team has been awarded for their ongoing commitment to serving fresh and healthy food.
The catering department has been awarded the Soil Association’s Food For Life Catering Mark Bronze for the second year running.
The bronze Catering Mark is an independent endorsement that the food served at the Trust uses fresh ingredients, which are free from trans fats and unhealthy additives.
The award covers all the food served to patients at the Northern General Hospital, Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Weston Park Hospital and Jessop Wing.
Emma Wilson, head of catering, said the Trust serves more than 20,000 meals a week from fresh and unprocessed ingredients.
She said: “We are very proud to have achieved this award for the second year. It reinforces the importance of providing fresh, high quality, traceable food to patients and staff, much of which has been sourced locally.”
