ONE of Sheffield’s longest-running community projects has received a donation from the city’s biggest bus company.

Heeley City Farm, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, has been awarded £3,000 from First’s charity and sponsorship committee.

The funding will be used to develop a new six-month project, to give disadvantaged youngsters the chance to experience the outdoors.

Some of the funding will also be used to hold events such as taster days, plus tools and protective equipment such as waterproofs for the children.

Derek Russell, a bus driver for First and a member of the charity committee, said: “We are proud to help.” Shelly Davis, of Heeley City Farm, said: “We would like to thank First for giving us such a sizeable donation.”
