AN ISLAMIC charity which helps out in trouble spots around the world has opened a Sheffield base.
The Al-Khair Foundation’s new offices are in London Road, on the edge of the city centre, and will provide services including food to homeless people, English and Arabic classes, and NVQ training for taxi drivers.
The charity’s Sheffield base was visited after its launch by Lord Mayor, Sylvia Dunkley.
Al-Khair Foundation has distributed food, medicine, shelter kits and much needed moral support to survivors in difficult and dangerous conditions through its ground team operating in different regions around the world.
The foundation’s most recent work includes supporting the victims of the recent Haiti earthquake.
Coun Dunkley said she ‘appreciated’ the foundation’s work and spoke of the value such services provided to vulnerable people.
