FUNDRAISING for repairs to the organ and roof at a church on the outskirts of Sheffield has been boosted by £17,000.

The work is needed at St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Eckington.

Temporary repairs have already been carried out to the organ, so it could function at 50 per cent capacity for Christmas services.

Don Jones, church warden, said: “We are extremely grateful for the way the people of Eckington and surrounding areas have responded to our plight.

“We are still a long way from reaching our goal and strenuous efforts are now being made to grant providers.”
