Christmas tree recycling scheme raises £12,000 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital

A family who recycle Christmas trees in exchange for a donation to Sheffield Children’s Hospital have raised £12,000 as a thank you for the care their son received when he had leukaemia.

Andy Powell and Michelle Emerson started to raise cash after their son William was diagnosed with leukaemia, aged 21 months, in 2011.

They have collected over 600 trees from houses in Sheffield, Worksop and Chesterfield in exchange for a minimum £12 donation.
