OLD-FASHIONED festive family fun is on the cards at a free yuletide fair in Sheffield between 3pm and 8pm today, Sunday, December 4, 2011.

Wood Lane Countryside Centre, Stannington, is inviting people to toast their toes by a real log fire and sip mulled wine at the event.

Roving carollers, a special grotto, bird box and Christmas decoration making plus a Christmas market are on offer with lots of tasty food options.

Performances from Sheffield Lindyhop Dancers or of ‘A very brief encounter’ by Storybag Theatre can also be enjoyed at the day funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Sheffield Landscape Trust and Sheffield City Council Northern Community Assembly.

Fair proceeds help pets

PETS Samaritans Animal Sanctuary in Broomhill Rd, Old Whittington near Chesterfield staged a Christmas Fair today from 11am.

All proceeds will go towards providing care for the sanctuary’s growing number of abandoned and mistreated pets.

Christmas Fair

SHEFFIELD antiques and crafts centre The Nicholls Building in Shalesmoor is holding its first Christmas Fair today until 4pm.

The courtyard has been transformed into a Christmas grotto, selling roast chestnuts, vintage jewellery, hand made crafts, art, accessories, trees, seasonal food and drink, vintage clothing, retro pottery and glassware.

Help the homeless this Christmas and New Year

A CHARITY set up to help the homeless in Sheffield at Christmas is looking for volunteers. Homeless And Rootless At Christmas provides shelter, hot meals and drinks between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day every year thanks to volunteers.
