Rotherham traders are gearing up for Christmas, with the lights switch-on planned for next week.
Thousands are expected for the event in All Saints’ Square on Thursday November, 13.
There will be a Christmas market operating on Effingham Street to coincide with the switch-on, due at 4.30pm.
Rotherham Council’s Cabinet Member for Business Growth and Regeneration, Councillor Dominic Beck, said: “The switch-on evening is phenomenally popular and certainly the one night of the year that everyone in Rotherham looks forward to.
“It’s officially the start of the festive period in the town centre.
“The council’s dedicated events team have spent the last few months making sure that the night remains a place where families can come, have fun, feel safe and enjoy a great night of entertainment.
“We’re continuing the trend of previous years by having a very traditional switch-on evening, packed with entertainment, games and great music, with time-honoured illuminations in festive colours ready to light up the town.”
