THREE people were arrested after a car was crashed in a Sheffield suburb. The trio had ran from the vehicle in Meadowhead, at about 12.40am today but two were located by officers on the ground and a third tracked by the helicopter and detained.

Arson attack at disued school

OLD classrooms at a disused South Yorkshire school have been gutted in a suspected arson attack.

The blaze happened at Priory School, Littlewood Lane, Lundwood, which has now closed with classes moved to a new school at Shafton.

Firefighters were at the scene for around four hours from 1am today, and used three fire engines and the aerial ladder to fight the fire, which involved two mobile clasrooms behind the main school.

Family of four escape house blaze

A FAMILY of four managed to escaped when their terraced house caught fire - then residents of neigbouring homes had to flee after the flames spread to adjoining roofs.

The family needed hospital treatment for the effects of smoke inhalation after the blaze, which happened at about 5am today on Mary Stret, at Langwith, between Chesterfield and Worksop.

Five fire crews were sent to the scene and were there for around four hours.

Firefighters also dealt with a chimney fire at a house on Hollingwood View, Renishaw, at about 1.47am today, and a skip fire on Fan Road, Staveley, at 8.50pm last night.
