China beckons for Rotherham artist

AN artist from Rotherham is celebrating after hearing her work will go on display - in China.

Yvonne North Moorhouse’s work will be exhibited in Chengdu, China, in September during the 2012 China International Friendship CitiesConference.

Two of her pieces will go on display in the Painting Exhibition, at the Pride International Conference Centre.

They will also be displayed at the International Museum at Tianfu Square in Chengdu.

Yvonne, a contemporary artist is based in Wentworth, Rotherham.

She uses digital photography, image manipulation and collage to create her work.

She also runs art workshops.

Earlier this year two of her pieces were exhibited in Rotherham town centre as part of its Gallery Town project.

It saw work by students, local artists and world famous painters exhibited in key outdoor locations around the town.

The conference in Chengdu will bring together 600 representatives from its sister cities around the world to discuss urban development under the theme of “A Green Life in a Happy City.”

Nick Cragg of Gallery Town, said: “It is a credit to Yvonne to have been selected and we hope to display some of the work created as a result of her visit in Rotherham for people visiting the town centre to see.”

Yvonne’s work can be seen in the Old Town Hall, opposite Argos on Howard Street in Rotherham town centre.

The pictures depict Wentworth Fields and King’s Wood at Wentworth.
